He likes the reliefs and volumes that this medium allows him to achieve. Depending on the medium used, Gilles varies the tools to work with the material.
The knife adapts more to the flexibility of the canvas, while the brush is used on harder supports. His passion for Brittany is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Gilles depicts seascapes. Light, colors and movements are transcribed by a frank and direct gesture.
In this self-taught journey, Gilles keeps an essential artistic reference point: the painter Maurice De Vlaminck (19th-20th century). The treatment of the material in relief and the strength of the gesture are benchmarks in his life as an artist. The reproduction of the beauty of nature remains gilles' primary approach. Since 1986, he has continued to exhibit in numerous regional fairs, on this occasion prizes are regularly awarded to him. This year, he exhibits a painting at the Zagarolo International Salon in Rome.
