Presentation
Boris Obregon was born in Chile in 1982. He currently lives and works in France where he settled in Sète.
He began his studies in Iquique, Chile where he studied architecture during 3 years. He then decided to move to Brazil where he joined an artistic training workshop in Sao Paolo in 2003.
Even if he gave up architecture to devote himself completly to his passion for painting, architecture has never really disappeared from his practice. In his chromatic landscapes graphic lines collide with each other, and in the portrayed scene. The surfaces distinguish one from the other but are placed in the same plane where the perspectives do not have any laws and let the characters evolve without limit. A same face can thus appear in front and on the side at the same time. This free interpretation of the composition lets us see his great technical mastery.
Boris Obregon paints mostly life scenes, daily life situations that he translates through his own reality. His narrative style is impregnated with a certain crazyness where we can find hybrid characters. Half human, animal or robot, the creatures that inhabit his pieces can have various expressions and facets, but they form a whole where the environment is definetly cheerful. Between free figuration and singular art, Boris Obregon manages to create a different universe from one piece to the next.
Each space of his urban fantasies is used, either by objects, decoration or the interaction among the crowd, there is always a detail which caughts up our attention.
Boris Obregon has exhibited his work mainly in South America, in Chile, Bolivia and Argentina, and recently in Europe at the Bugatti Fair in Milan.
