Presentation

Arts design africa gallery presents Ataraxie, a solo show by Lewis Gibson
an exhibition from April 14 to 21 at the Villa des Créateurs CCMC, in Yaoundé.
For his first solo show in Yaoundé, ONDOMEM Arnold Gibson aka Lewis GIBSON, young Cameroonian visual artist, born in Douala on February 25, 1998, takes us to the heart of his new experimental approach.

It questions the identity and different forms of sensitivity of beings. His work materializes different psychological and spiritual states through bodily expression, putting them in dreamlike environments.
This juxtaposition softens and re-enchants their sorrows by communing with nature. This artistic approach places humans at the center of the relationship, of the living, in direct connection with creation and the Creator for a transcendent balance.

The ATARAXIE series, from the Greek ἀταραξία, marks the absence of troubles, peace of the soul as an invitation to resilience. The artist here translates the reconciliation of being and body. In a context where the painful past like a mark, an incurable and indelible imprint opens the mind to introspection and a new quest for happiness.
This series of paintings invites the quest for identity, to surpass oneself
Ataraxia thus becomes the principle of happiness of spiritual and physical freedom.
