Wang Bing
Biography
Born in China in the province of Shaanxi in 1967, Wang Bing studied photography at the Lu Xun School of Fine Arts then cinema at the Beijing Cinema Institute. He began his career as an independent filmmaker in 1999 by pursuing a personal and ambitious project: living in an old industrial district of Shenyang which will soon be destroyed due to municipal reform, he films the lives of the workers in this district. Thus was born the long-term documentary (more than nine hours) “À l'Ouest des rails", a landmark work of documentary cinema. Her films "Fengming, Chronicle of a Chinese Woman", "Coal Money" and "The Three Sisters of Yunnan" have all been selected in numerous festivals.
