Biography
Florkey is a street-art artist very committed to others. His artistic performances and his sensitivity are discovered in his paintings.
The works of resilience
We are not insensitive to the approach of Florian Caucheteux, alias Florkey. A street-art artist, he didn't start out on the street like many graphic designers. His career is more classic and began in 1986 with the Beaux-Arts de Verviers in Belgium to follow with artistic studies at St-Luc Liège. Coming from a family of artists, his life could only be artistic. He then began a career as a graphic designer and multiplied his experiences in advertising agencies in Belgium and Luxembourg. Since 2003, he has been teaching at Saint-Luc Liège. In parallel with the work, he experiments with several airbrush painting techniques and gradually turns to a mix of techniques with spray, posca, acrylic and stencil. Florkey offers very colorful works influenced from the renaissance to pop-art references, street-art movements to contemporary art.
Concrete commitments
Florkey's works have a soul. He describes his art as “benevolent vandalism. Then his career took another turn. Two brain tumors push him to rethink his life and his approach. In 2018, he decided to embark on a one-year performance called: #playmocatching. The artist creates one hundred small canvases which will then be abandoned all over the world. Those who find them become owners and are called "playmocatcher". This performance will take him a full year. Art as resilience but also as awareness.
Limit your carbon impact
Florkey paints on recycled supports such as pallets, advertising tarpaulins. Nothing is lost and everything is transformed. As an artist, he helps the inhabitants of the disaster-stricken municipalities in the region of Liège. These cities were the scene of violent floods last year and faced with this disaster, the artist will paint on the wooden panels that camouflage the devastated dwellings. Then, he will launch a charity sale of his paintings to help a school devastated by the waters. His career has already been crowned with major prizes, including one won at the Bernard Massard Signature Edition Red Design competition. He was one of six winners from over 150 entrants from around the world. His works are exported and the artist who works on order whether for frescoes or canvases. After performing an artistic performance that will bring in several thousand euros for the benefit of Télévie.
