Mathieu Taupenas (aka Swed Oner), is a 36-year-old French figurative artist living in the south of France (Uzès). His journey as a muralist began at the end of the 90's with graffiti.
His art acts as a bridge between the street, people, cultures. He draws his inspiration from the cradle of diversity, the arteries of cities. His chance encounters with others lead him first to work in photography, then secondly, to the creation of a painting. The singularity of his subjects questions us in turn about the passing of time, the definition of beauty, and feelings.
His acrylic and aerosol technique, exclusively in black and white, brings us a stamp, a striking authenticity in his portraits. The luminous halo which highlights his paintings refers to equality, protection and spirituality. Capturing reality to transpose it into the unreal is the culmination of Swed Oner's work.
