Monique Laville

From a young age, Monique Laville was dedicated to an artistic career encouraged by her father who financed her classical dance and piano lessons. Entirely self-taught, having become a professional painter over the years, she began a few sketches in black pencil, charcoal and pastel, drawing inspiration first from photos, then, later, from paintings by the great masters of Impressionism where she definitely used oil paint and discovered what pictorial art meant to her.

So, thanks to her father, whom she honored and still honors today, in some of her paintings, most of which tell a story, she includes a little fellow dressed in blue. A guy dressed in blue, because a mechanic by trade, he regularly wore overalls.

Since then, she has executed existing landscapes, revisited in her own way while remaining in the Impressionist movement because it is the one that is in line with her style, which creates her universe. All her oil paintings on canvas, entirely executed with a single small knife, thus give her works a very personal pictorial touch.

Monique Laville since the 1980s, has exhibited both in France and abroad, notably the USA, Canada, Brazil, Austria, Great Britain, China, Italy, Spain, Portugal, with various awards, recognitions, distinctions, press articles, catalogs, encyclopedias, magazines...

Nostalgia for the past...!!! Her desire is to retransmit the good and the bad sides of the evolution of daily life since the 1900s, such as the environment, the traditions and the values of yesteryear in her country.

A great Italian art critic, Alfredo Barbagallo said to her one day: "Your painting reflects a great inner richness".
