This diptych comes from series No. 4 by the artist Anaïs LF, entitled "The windows". This series leans more towards shades of blue, after an exploration of black in an outrageous way.
A more frank, more refined, more minimalist register and with more characterContinuing her work from her first series Les Révélations, the main movement of which is that of abstract expressionism, Anaïs LF is moving towards the Colorfield movement. It is expressed in this series through flat areas of bright colors.
At the same time as she continues her series on ultrablack waves, through which she explores the luminosity of black, she explores blue. First, Majorelle blue, then Klein blue. We never really paint Majorelle or Klein, moreover…

A blue that brings you back to lifeThese pigments are so difficult to imitate. If she seeks her tone with mixtures of other pigments, she never really achieves the same clarity; if she desires clarity, saturation must be sacrificed. Spending a few days in Marseille, she became undeniably attracted by the electricity of blue, alongside black. White, black and blue contrast. For a long time he was asked to paint blue. Until then, she had only painted the work “Pacification", in blue and gold tones.
But in a more frank, more refined, more minimalist register and with more character as well, this blue runs throughout this series. It makes you come alive. In this sense, it is the first color that she paints again after the Outrenoire series. He gives birth again. It gives hope.
She does not paint black for black's sake, but for contrasts. Next to black, white or even blue become whiter and bluer.
Inspiration from the black waves, Anaïs LF
Creative process: first smooth and shiny layers, then deep furrows and complex interlacings.Like Jacques Majorelle, “dust plays a major role in his paintings.
In this series, she multiplies new techniques. After handling brushes in her series Le Chemin, Les Vagues, she mastered new materials. She uses large rolls of tape in particular. She alternates between several types of brushes: flat ones, round ones, wide ones, and finer ones for the edges. She often uses, especially in the center of the paintings, knives which allow her to slide the paint across the canvas. What is striking and comforting about these techniques is the way in which she applies large layers of paint that she stretches very little, and which she presses lightly with a knife so that they barely spread. The layers of blue are often very thick, while black is almost always stretched. Indeed, the black areas are smooth, integrated into the canvas to reveal the alternation of the cotton of the canvas and the black paint. Still using acrylic paint, these areas of black paint almost give the impression of areas painted with black ink.

Anaïs LF, young emerging artist, painter of feelings and encounters, grew up in Normandy, near the water. After studying information and communication sciences, where she explored the forms of romantic and cultural encounters, she places these encounters at the heart of her art. In 2018, his desire to create becomes a compelling need to transpose his feelings and explore his creative consciousness.
She wants her works to have a meditative quality. She does not seek to represent reality, but lets herself be guided by her freedom.
She does not aim for aesthetic harmony between each work, preferring to let each piece exist independently. Each creation is a self-contained entity, reflecting a distinct moment in its creative and emotional process. This intentional diversity allows his works to capture a diverse range of feelings and experiences, providing the viewer with a rich and multifaceted exploration of his artistic world.
Anaïs LF wants her works to leave room for the viewer to exist. The contemplative spectator, faced with a work, studies it, extracts elements that are interesting to him, and acts. To go even further than the contemplative attitude, she would like the viewer to integrate into their environment, to participate in constructing and composing the work. His returns in the form of reinterpretations each time underline a little more the multiple opportunities for encounters between oneself and the spectators as well.
The creation of spaces of freedom and encounter between oneself and others remains at the center of his art.
Summary of main series (2019-2024)Each series reflects an artistic and personal evolution, exploring different techniques and inspirations to express deep and personal feelings.
This series is part of abstract expressionism, using the "All over" technique to completely cover the canvases, expressing intense feelings such as injustice and melancholy. The creative process includes techniques favoring the fluidity of painting, without brushes or knives, but with the hands (sometimes a few sticks), to create unpredictable and deeply emotional works.
Inspired by natural and warm colors, this series explores fluid and sensual movements, symbolizing artistic evolution and the connection with the sea. Using large brushes, the artist fluidifies the canvases with Gesso or acrylic paint, creating thick layers that mark their features.
Focused on the exploration of black, this series is inspired by Soulages and expresses the nuances of black through varied textures, representing mourning and resilience. The works capture light differently depending on the texture, creating powerful contrasts.
Inspired by Mediterranean blues, more design notions, and certainly the Colorfield trend, this series uses flat areas of bright colors, notably Majorelle blue and Klein blue, in contrast with black and white. Using varied techniques, the artist creates thick layers of paint, exploring contrasts and bringing life and hope through the color blue.
