"Origin" is a monumental sculpture of Isabel Miramontes, a masterpiece of singular beauty.
Isabel Miramontes shares with us her vision of the young girl in the boat, a theme to the history of art and to the Impressionists. A deep softness emanates from its curves. The position of the young girl facing life, transmits an energy of serenity, confidence and letting go. She embodies a quiet, free force. The girl splits the waves, dynamic, haughty, and bewitching. The drawing of her body is very delicate ...
Isabel Miramontes has fashioned with her artistic hands a woman holding a large oar, advancing serenely on calm waters. Her face is soft and determined, she knows where she is going and she seems to be in absolute confidence and in certain control. This woman crosses the waters and goes forward, she makes her way with her boat and keeps her course until she takes us with her to our destination. This El Dorado is the one the Artist invites us to imagine with her. It could be this place we dream of going one day, or the place we live and navigate day after day. We find her streaks on the upper body, as if she was wearing only a ribbon. The detail is also found in the position of the hands and feet, which is indicative of the artistic work of Isabel Miramontes. More than anything, we let ourselves be carried away by a depth and an impetus that makes us travel and takes us on paths of reverie and why not inspiration. The light gray patina gives it an appearance of stone, a symbol of strength and stability, while the world of the boat recalls uncertainty and movement. The artist offers here a sculpture that combines a perfect balance between two opposites that subtly attract and marry. In other words, it is a real masterpiece!
The sculptor innovates by theme and realization, while keeping her trademarks that make her success such as these light bronze spirals that form the bust of the character.
• Isabel Miramontes was born in 1962 in Santiago de Compostella in Spain. This eminent place of pilgrimage, which is of Celtic origin, the warm wind and sea, always fascinates her and remains for her a magical area.
• But the artist lives in Brussels. It was in Belgium, in Brussels, that the artist grew up and did her studies, obtaining a teaching diploma in Fine Arts at the Institut Sainte Marie.
• The body, posture, movement and essence of human life are at the heart of Isabel Miramontes' work. Her works show fascinating and contemplative figure, abstract bodies cut into strips, sketched human bodies, associated with shapes or objects and others, more realistic. At the height of the usual sculpture, Isabel Miramontes opposes an apparent emptiness. For the artist, sculpture is not a block of material to which a shape is given, sculpture is a void to which the artist gives a surface. The human existence, at once concrete and impalpable, is made of flesh and bones and that part of essential emptiness which our emotions constitute. The cuts of these characters give the image of a body reduced to its footprint.

Isabel Miramontes was born in Santiago de Compostela, this high place of pilgrimage, of Celtic origin, still fascinates her and remains a magical country for her. But it was in Belgium, in Brussels, that the artist grew up and studied: she obtained a diploma in Plastic Arts at the Institut Sainte-Marie.
She continued her training in 1988 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint-Gilles, in Patrick Pouillart's studio, where she acquired solid experience in drawing and sketching on live models. Isabel Miramontes retains from this experience the need to fix at all times the gestures of the man, attitudes and impressions thrown on multiple sketchbooks, so many testimonies of the subtle and perspicacious gaze that she casts around her. It was in 1994, in the studio of a sculptor friend, that she passionately discovered sculpture, which became the preferred means of expression to which she now devoted herself. Every day, Isabel Miramontes isolates herself in her studio. There, with fervor, echoing her sketches, she shapes the earth, explores new forms to give substance to her inner life and transmit her vision of the world.
Struck by a silhouette, a movement, a symbol, a thought, Isabel Miramontes translates the human attitude with deep and sincere emotion. The plastic language of Miramontes imposes the human being represented in all the ambiguity of his power and his fragility, his confinement and his desire for freedom, his dream and his triumph. This fascinating character, a synthesis of forms and thoughts, expresses the reality of life with its moments of happiness but also of drama, of abandonment but also of tension, a character who, undoubtedly, challenges each of us in the depths of his be.
