Color pallet :

  • The dominant colors are shades of red, orange, brown, black and white.
  • We can also observe subtle touches of yellows and grays.

Composition and Style:

  • The painting is done in an abstract style with flowing, swirling movements.
  • Colors mix and contrast organically, creating varied shapes and textures.
  • The work gives an impression of depth, with some areas darker and others lighter, which gives a three-dimensional effect to the work.

Technique:

  • The technique used is a combination of acrylic paint and ink to obtain this marbled and fluid effect.
  • Paint movements suggest dynamic application with pours or mixtures directly onto the canvas.

Emotion and Interpretation:

  • The work evokes emotional intensity through the use of warm colors and strong contrasts.
  • One can certainly feel a controlled chaos, where abstract shapes could recall natural elements like lava, molten rocks or even imaginary landscapes.

Atmosphere :

  • The painting creates an atmosphere that is both dramatic and mystical, inviting the viewer to freely interpret the shapes and colors.
  • It can evoke feelings of passion, mystery and contemplation.

In summary, this work by Anaïs LF is an abstract painting rich in texture and emotion, using a warm color palette and dynamic blending techniques to create a captivating and expressive composition.

On its history:

This painting comes from the first series of works created by the artist Anaïs LF. With the golden hours, with more golden tones, these works mark a turning point in Anaïs' artistic journey. Indeed, in this first series, she first experiments with bright but rather floral, natural colors. With gold and copper, these paintings mark a certain parenthesis with a desire to play with reflections, light, echoes...

A first series which marks the departure towards the exploration of feelings

In this first series "Les Révélations", coming from the movement of abstract expressionism, Anaïs LF completely covers the canvases with paint, a technique commonly called "All over". It is a transcription of feelings, often extreme.

Painting therefore becomes with this first series, a new benchmark, a return to oneself. This first series of paintings marks the starting point towards a means of expressing (and not illustrating) the feelings and experiences that pass through her, in their contrasts and their depths. A means also of expressing this global, affective, hypersensitive, intuitive, dazzling thought that was often rejected from her, but which she ends up accepting thanks to her art.

Main current: Abstract expressionism for the freedom of expression of feelings, of heightened sensitivity, like intimate and personal writing.

Abstract expressionism is based on movement, encounters, color contrasts. In total break with figuration, Abstract Expressionism reveals an intensity that is as concrete as psychic and spiritual.

Creative process

Instead of painting on an easel, Anaïs LF places her canvases on the floor: this is the dripping technique. On the ground, she felt more at ease, with a need for anchoring and reference Like most artists who have marked this movement, she does not use brushes or palettes.

She paints with her hands, a stick, a knife from time to time, but above all a very fluid painting. His pictorial technique in this series refers more to action painting (or sometimes gestural abstraction). The action, the powerful gesture, the intensity of the brushstroke and the squirts of paint evoke the impulse charge necessary for the creation of the works. The work of the motif is characteristic of his works, which are intended to be profound, as a means of exteriorizing.

Each of the works from this series is an experience of which neither the progress nor the result are predictable. It often starts from a first layer which covers the canvas. Then, this proposal capable of multiple potential developments leads to a dialogue, a meeting. The successive choices gradually give birth to the poetry of the painting. His choices depend and respond to a certain way of being in this world

The importance of fluency

It is common to say that fluid paints often require a certain level of mastery and technique to handle successfully. For Anaïs LF, it was fluidity that called her. She will experience the reaction of colors between them, the meeting of colors, textures, their pigments and their nuances... Water thus occupies an important place in her creative process within this series of works. The fluidity of water mixes with that of paint, sometimes ink, to offer unparalleled creative freedom, since it allows you to play with the effects of transparency, superposition and unique contrasts. Some also observe flowing and marbling effects, thus giving an organic and dynamic character to the works.

Presentation

Anaïs LF, young emerging artist, painter of feelings and encounters, grew up in Normandy, near the water. After studying information and communication sciences, where she explored the forms of romantic and cultural encounters, she places these encounters at the heart of her art. In 2018, his desire to create becomes a compelling need to transpose his feelings and explore his creative consciousness.

She wants her works to have a meditative quality. She does not seek to represent reality, but lets herself be guided by her freedom.

She does not aim for aesthetic harmony between each work, preferring to let each piece exist independently. Each creation is a self-contained entity, reflecting a distinct moment in its creative and emotional process. This intentional diversity allows his works to capture a diverse range of feelings and experiences, providing the viewer with a rich and multifaceted exploration of his artistic world.

Anaïs LF wants her works to leave room for the viewer to exist. The contemplative spectator, faced with a work, studies it, extracts elements that are interesting to him, and acts. To go even further than the contemplative attitude, she would like the viewer to integrate into their environment, to participate in constructing and composing the work. His returns in the form of reinterpretations each time underline a little more the multiple opportunities for encounters between oneself and the spectators as well.

The creation of spaces of freedom and encounter between oneself and others remains at the center of his art.

Summary of main series (2019-2024)

Each series reflects an artistic and personal evolution, exploring different techniques and inspirations to express deep and personal feelings.

  • “Revelations" series (2019-2024)

This series is part of abstract expressionism, using the "All over" technique to completely cover the canvases, expressing intense feelings such as injustice and melancholy. The creative process includes techniques favoring the fluidity of painting, without brushes or knives, but with the hands (sometimes a few sticks), to create unpredictable and deeply emotional works.

  • Series “The Path, The Waves" (2022-)

Inspired by natural and warm colors, this series explores fluid and sensual movements, symbolizing artistic evolution and the connection with the sea. Using large brushes, the artist fluidifies the canvases with Gesso or acrylic paint, creating thick layers that mark their features.

  • Series “Les Vagues Outrenoires" (2023-)

Focused on the exploration of black, this series is inspired by Soulages and expresses the nuances of black through varied textures, representing mourning and resilience. The works capture light differently depending on the texture, creating powerful contrasts.

  • “Les Bleus" series (2024-)

Inspired by Mediterranean blues, more design notions, and certainly the Colorfield trend, this series uses flat areas of bright colors, notably Majorelle blue and Klein blue, in contrast with black and white. Using varied techniques, the artist creates thick layers of paint, exploring contrasts and bringing life and hope through the color blue.
