Gabriel Schmitz is a European artist. German by origin, he studied art at the Beaux-Arts in Edinburgh in Scotland and settled in Spain where he founded his family. He is fond of cinema, literature, contemporary dance, opera, and has a real knowledge of what is being created in these fields, in Europe, the United States, and even in Japan. This process of constant curiosity for these subjects nourishes his conscience and his unconsciousness. He weaves with intensity an invisible canvas connecting the real beings that are the painter and the spectators, to his human subjects whose deep emotions he transmits to us. He uses oil on canvas, in a very contemporary way, with a lively, fast touch, which gives life to the flesh of his characters and accentuates their presence. The Arcturus Gallery, which has exhibited it since its creation in 1999, is pleased to present its recent works which will not fail to make you "moved by an image".
