Artistes engagés
Les artistes activistes ont un point commun : leur engagement. Mais il peut revêtir plusieurs formes et s'orienter autour d'une variété de sujets, de l'environnement à la politique en passant par l'origine, le genre et la sexualité. D'ailleurs, l'art contemporain fait souvent écho aux problèmes du monde actuel. En les questionnant, voire parfois en les confrontant, l'art est un outil exceptionnel. Souvent, il apporte un regard différent et des perspectives nouvelles quand les mots ne suffisent pas.
L'incroyable beauté du monde naturel est également un sujet de prédilection pour les artistes, traversant les mouvements et les époques. Dès lors qu'il est menacé par l'humanité, il n'est pas surprenant que des artistes engagés pour l'écologie fassent entendre leur voix. Parmi eux, Jérémy Gobé, Angeles Peña ou encore Franck Seguin, utilisent leur art pour défendre les causes qui leur sont chères.
Enfin, les questions de genre et la sexualité jouent également un rôle clé dans l'activisme artistique. Les clichés étonnants de la photographe belge Charlotte Abramow explorent le genre, le féminisme et la sexualité féminine. Quant aux dessins de l'artiste non binaire américain Ryan Wilks, ils abordent la difficile relation entre l'orientation sexuelle et la religion.
Le monde de la politique est également omniprésent dans l'art contemporain. Nombreux sont les artistes politiques, qui aiment interroger nos valeurs et dérives sociétales. Les street artistes Banksy et Shepard Fairey, mondialement connus, explorent tous deux une série de sujets politiques, des crimes de guerre aux inconvénients du consumérisme.
