We are happy to announce the start of our new summer exhibition, the urban and powerful paintings of Daniel Castan.
In his first professional life, the artist Daniel Castan traveled extensively to New York and Hong Kong. He retains a fascination for urban worlds and their disproportionate perspectives.
In his paintings, he tries to recreate these very graphic atmospheres. The lines of the buildings are lost in the sky, the wide avenues seem endless, the colors clash. The artist works from his memories, his imagination.
Daniel Castan chose to paint with an alkyd oil. This works like classic oil, but its binder is a resin which allows accelerated drying. The knife, for its part, is the artist's tool of choice. It allows him to work both in paste, in broad strokes, and to draw in the material.
You will also be able to discover something new from the artist in our gallery: 2 sculptures. These are compressions of all his paint tubes. One raw and the other in bronze cast from an original.
