Photographies de sport
Dès 1882, on a tenté de capturer la puissance du mouvement en utilisant plusieurs images d'un athlète en train de courir, montrées en boucle. Tout au long du 19ème siècle, le sport est sous les feux des projecteurs. Des images de tennis aux courses de chevaux, le dynamisme du monde sportif contribue même à l'essor du cinéma. À la fin du siècle, Kodak commercialise son premier appareil photo portable, équipé d'un rouleau de pellicule négative. En 1896, les Jeux olympiques d’Athènes sont photographiés pour la première fois. Au fur et à mesure que le 20ème siècle avance, les progrès technologiques dans le domaine de la photographie sportive ont continué, faisant de cet art un domaine à part dans la photographie. D’ailleurs, les Jeux olympiques ont continué à fasciner les artistes et nombreux sont ceux qui ont tout donné pour offrir aux yeux du monde les exploits des plus grands athlètes que le monde ait jamais vus. D’ailleurs, lorsque l'image de Bob Beamon battant le record du monde de saut en longueur en 1968 a été diffusée, elle ouvre une nouvelle ère pour la photographie : c’est le début de la photographie de sport hyperréaliste. Ainsi, c’est une passion aussi bien du côté des artistes que des collectionneurs, qui ne s’est jamais démentie. Si les appareils photo se sont développés de manière exponentielle depuis, puis ont été remplacés par les smartphones, l'ère de la photographie sportive est toujours là.
