Collector’s Guide
Laurent Garcin is a French abstract painter, engraver and sculptor born in 1965, he has his studio in Paris. Lise Cormery writes his portrait in her book, " The art of the Post-War Ecole de Paris".
"The mother of Laurent Garcin is a painter and restores religious paintings, she trains him very young. Laurent Garcin studies at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris and practices the art of engraving at ADAC School and studios of Paris.
His first Solo Show at Lise Cormery Gallery is in February 1987, when he is 22 years old, he exhibits 59 original works of art, drawings, inks, engravings and acrylic paintings. After his first Solo Show in 1987 he is exhibited permanently at Lise Cormery Gallery until his last Solo Show in 1996.
For his second Solo Show in 1989, he presents 32 new paintings. He works as well in the studio of Martine Colignon, visual artist of installations in Paris.
In 1991 for his third Solo Show, 32 paintings and sculptures are displayed.
In 1991 and 1992, under the High Patronage of French President Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac, Mayor of Paris, he is part of the French selection during the Art Olympiads organized by Lise Cormery Gallery for the CNOSF, French Olympic Committee. This international event was following the famous 1988 Art Olympiads in Seoul, South Korea, where a monumental sculptures Museum in open air and a Museum of International paintings was created for the world competition, in order to invite and show the art of major international artists of the 20th Century.
Lise Cormery Gallery keeps organizing Solo Shows of Laurent Garcin in 1993, 1994 and 1996 following and encouraging his artistic path, always improving, while starting from small works of acrylic paintings and drawings and ink, until the 1994 and 1996 oil on paintings, becoming monumental.
In his 1994 Solo Show, Laurent Garcin presents 20 new works of art, in the spirit of the 1969 abstract stained glasses of Jean Bazaine (1904-2001) in Saint Severin Church of Latin District of Paris, where Laurent Garcin goes since his childhood.
In 1996 he creates his first oil on canvas "Paysage Landscape" and for his 1996 Solo Show he creates 28 new paintings, as well as his first oil on canvas, and the acrylic painting on paper "Portrait of Lise and Arnaud". They all keep being joyous, spontaneous as well as his sculpture "Ani-mal" or the "Little dragon".
Laurent Garcin is an independent artist and has exhibitions in many art galleries and Light always shows him the way. "
