Then, he successively deposits layers of colored varnish on the mirror Plexiglas. The colors of the varnishes are composed by the artist himself from pigments. A volume is thus created on a work that is positioned between painting and sculpture.
Worked flat, these paintings want to be part of the heritage of American modernism through the use of “all over” which encourages the viewer to enter the painting. The bluish, silvery and coppery, matte and/or shiny surfaces of the paintings evoke the condensation of water vapor on a window pane, the bed of a stream as much as an atmospheric image.
The reflective character of the paintings traps the viewer on the surface of the work in more or less ghostly appearances even distorted by the undulations of the support. If the initial reference is that of a sky or an aqueous surface, the many layers of varnish play on the loss in the representation, creating an impression of disturbing strangeness.

Presentation
“Painting has nothing to do with genius, but everything with inventions. The genius lies in the invention of materials and techniques that make it possible to paint differently and better » Jerome Robbe
Jérôme Robbe was born in 1981 in Paris, he has recently been living and working in New Aquitaine.
Graduated from the Villa Arson in 2008, he trained in the mastery of different pictorial techniques as well as in the history of art and forms. His work is strongly part of an incessant plastic research that questions the heart of the history of painting.
If Jérôme Robbe considers that it is a succession of technical inventions, it is as a painter of today that he participates in it in his own way, that of an artist-researcher-explorer-inventor.
