The Gilbert Dufois gallery (Paris) is very happy to present a new personal exhibition by sculptor Pierre Voituriez, entitled "Trophies". Pierre Voituriez was born in 1962, trained in Fine Arts at the Beaux-Arts in Besançon, completed his teaching with an apprenticeship in ironwork in order to master the art of metal. Pierre Voituriez mainly works on animal sculpture. Without going overboard with caricature, he treats his animals with a joke and playful poetry that transform them into characters out of a comic book. "Pierre Voituriez ... beasts of Art!" It is because I know the Animal well that I wanted to tell you about its bugs! There is as much humanity in each of them as in the characters of La Fontaine. We find there the feelings that cross our lives: good-naturedness, casualness, playfulness, worry, sadness ... No matter the volumes, sculpture, painting; whatever the material, bronze, wood, rebar, canvas ... here everything is a matter of expressiveness; attitude and posture go hand in hand. We dive into the imagination of Pierre Voituriez with as much curiosity as astonishment to let ourselves be caught by the improbable gaze of a disjointed fish or the giggles of a hare. His subjects overflow with a vitality that the author wanted to share with us, without restraint and without ever restraining his imagination. That of an active contemplative according to his own admission: I observe nature, I store without counting my time ... until I feel the desire to give life to all these things buried in my mind. There, my creative process readily accepts incidents of course to the point of allowing me to be pleasantly surprised. Look at nature ... and turn your back on it, said Raoul Dufy. "- Ivan Olivas
