Artwork location: France

In this compelling artwork, a vivid and intricately detailed mural dominates the canvas, resonating with bold tones of yellow and blue. The mural features a powerful fist, a symbol of strength and unity, exuding an aura of resistance and empowerment. Radiating lines emanate from the fist, suggesting dynamic energy and a sense of movement that invigorates the surrounding space. The surrounding text, though partially obscured, alludes to themes of respect and local talent, underlining a community-oriented message that champions recognition and celebration of grassroots creativity. Strategically placed in the lower right quadrant, a figure cloaked in voluminous black tulle creates a striking contrast against the vibrant mural. The figure’s positioning and attire add a layer of depth and intrigue, merging human presence with street art’s defiant spirit. The dark, opaque fabric of the tulle dress juxtaposes sharply with the mural's bright background, enhancing the artwork's dramatic effect. This blend of a tactile human figure with the static painted elements crafts a visual dialogue that is both profound and provocative. The use of color in this piece is both assertive and deliberate. The blue and yellow hues conspire to evoke a sense of optimism and resilience, while the distressed texture of the mural hints at a history of adversity and endurance. The figure’s serene yet powerful pose complements the mural's bold statements, creating a harmonious balance between stillness and action. Overall, this artwork is a multifaceted composition that merges the raw energy of street art with the evocative presence of performance art. It captures a narrative of empowerment, resilience, and the celebration of local talent through its dynamic use of color, texture, and spatial arrangement. The piece is a testament to the enduring power of art as a medium for social commentary and human connection.

Rodrigo, Poderosa

Presentation

Born in Colombia. His personal and artistic journey is closely linked to the conflicts that have taken place and which persist in the country. In addition, he is strongly linked to the identity of the city of Medellin, where he develops a social photographic project with disadvantaged and stigmatized communities, with independent, private or public structures of the city.

Generally speaking, he deals with subjects around the Mediterranean since he lives all year round in Marseille, France. He is influenced by the painter Edward Hopper, the photographers Elliot Herwitt, Martin Parr and Peter Lindghberg.

His work revolves around a socio-cultural and environmental axis, while bringing a “pop" touch to the world of travel, urban culture and youth. He also likes to add a flavor of irony, mixed with proven minimalism in his shots. He likes to reappropriate the social issues that make up our generation and deconstruct certain myths that the dictatorship of the image imposes in our collective thinking. He regularly collaborates in the fashion world in Marseille, he was invited to Milan Fashion Week in 2023.

Curated in 2019 by Klaus Fruchtnis, director of the photography department at the École supérieure d'art de Paris to represent Colombian artists living in France as part of the event. [Tiempo] from the Consulate of Colombia. He is also the grand prize winner of the OFF VISA pour l'Image festival in 2020. In 2023, a screening of one of his works is organized during the "Rencontres de Arles", at the Rivera Ortiz Foundation. It was also selected to exhibit by the Ministry of Culture at the Colombian consulate as part of the national day in memory and solidarity with the victims of armed conflicts.
