Hay artistas que se han especializado completamente en este género, como Jérôme Bosch, Cindy Sherman, Pierre et Gilles, Sarah Moon, Grégory Crewdson, Deborah Hally, Jeff Bark, Desirée Dolton, Erwin Olaf, Bronek Kozka y Vivien Racault.
