Located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in the heart of the Carré Rive Gauche, 1831 Art Gallery is a meeting place for collectors, artists and architecture and design professionals. It's a singular gallery, founded in 2014 by Aude and Jean-Louis Herlédan, an internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor and a passionate collector, respectively. It's a place where the arts converse. The curation of 1831 Art Gallery is inspired by a taste for the decorative arts, modernist architecture and a touch of ethnicity.
The gallery organizes thematic exhibitions featuring contemporary artists from around the world, and collaborates with numerous internationally recognized galleries, institutions and foundations.
A member of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d'Art, Paris Design Week, Carré Rive Gauche and the Créateurs Design Association, the gallery is deeply involved in promoting the French contemporary art scene internationally.
The gallery collaborates with institutions such as the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP) under the aegis of the French Ministry of Culture, the Institut Français and the Villa Albertine in the United States, to organize international exhibitions and fairs.
1831 Art Gallery also accompanies its artists on numerous institutional projects such as “1 immeuble -1 œuvre”, the co-financing of monographic catalogs, artist residencies, international exhibitions and fairs, or through its links with the Fonds Régionaux d'Art Contemporain…
The gallery maintains a fruitful collaboration with a large network of art and design professionals, architecture studios and interior designers.
