MADONNA CHOOSES JIMMIE MARTIN FOR HER MUCH-ANTICIPATED XLVI SUPER-BOWL HALF-TIME SHOW
When the world-proclaimed "Queen of Pop" needs a throne dazzling enough to capture the attention of more than 100 million viewers worldwide, she knows exactly where to turn. Jimmie Martin didn't hesitate when asked to design the spectacular avant-garde cart, podium and throne on which Madonna entered Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for Super-Bowl XLVI last night . With a polished black walkway and golden posts overlooking two sphinxes covered in black Swarovski crystals, this unique Egyptian-inspired work of art would make Cleopatra green with envy.
Behind the throne seat were the initials MDNA (the title and lead track of Madonna's upcoming album), scrawled in Jimmie Martin's graffiti signature. This work went down in history as an impactful yet harmonious collaboration between the Queen of Pop - Madonna, and the award-winning London designer duo - Jimmie Martin.
Jimmie Martin's creative director, Jimmie Karlsson, said of the collaboration: "We were absolutely delighted to be contacted by Madonna's team, who asked us to work with her on what is arguably the "the most watched sporting event in the United States, if not the entire world. We had a great time working with everyone involved and the attention to detail was incredible. I grew up in Sweden as a fan and now seeing our play on stage with Madonna has been incredibly surreal.
Martin Nihlmar, director of the company, shares the same sentiment: "The atmosphere of watching Madonna being carried by an army of dancers in our creation - even while sitting at home in the UK - was totally electric. Jimmie and I We both felt such a sense of gratification in terms of brand recognition and business growth from humble beginnings. We owe him and his team a huge thank you, just for the experience that we experienced while working on this project!
