This artwork, titled “Under the Surface: Posidonia australis," captures the tranquil and mysterious essence of the underwater world through a delicate and precisely executed composition.
Using a soothing color palette, primarily soft greens and shades of gray, the artist illustrates with scientific precision the Australian water plant rooted in a sandy bottom.
The atypical vertical aspect of the work, narrow and elongated, is reminiscent of a cross-section that offers us a new look at a scene that is usually hidden. The plants dominate the center of the composition, their slender stems and foliage reaching upwards, symbolizing the perpetual quest for light and growth.
The meticulous details and the watercolor technique used add an airy and fluid touch, reinforcing the idea of the aquatic element. The light seems to penetrate gently through the water, creating a subtle luminous effect that accentuates the delicate textures of each stem and leaf. Some plants display small flowers, touches of color that contrast slightly with the dominant background, bringing a note of life and diversity to the whole. Original work in Winsor and Newton watercolor, Sennelier and pigments on Arches 300g / m paper. It is mounted on a kakemono with a wooden stick at the top of the work, fixings are provided for hanging on the wall. A stick at the bottom of the work to stabilize.
History of the work: This work is a representation inspired by the botanical characteristics of the posidonia. It was designed as part of the “Posidonia" exhibition at the Jardin du Rayol. It presents this species of underwater flowering plant emblematic of the seabed mainly present on the Australian coasts. Find all the works and more information in the exhibitions section.

Aurélie is a freelance artist-author. After a first scientific course in geosciences then a course at the national school of landscape of Bordeaux, she developed her artistic universe and explored different mediums in parallel with her profession of landscape designer.

For some artworks, you can negotiate the price. If the price of the work is negotiable, you have a “Make an offer” button under the “Buy this work” one.
To submit your offer, you must make a payment of the desired amount. Your offer will then be forwarded to the gallery, which reserves the right to accept or reject it. Where can I have my order delivered?

Return and cancellation
