Tensioni Superficiali - Five young artists in Venice
From September 26, 2020 to November 29, 2020
Elena Della Corna is currently attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and she is one of the artists in residence at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation.
Between 2017 and 2018 she studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Liège.
Her research is based on the experimentation with the pictorial material: starting from the ancient technique of tempering with glue and questioning its function and components, she comes to produce various types of sticky organic materials, similar to bio-plastics, which she uses in her productions from canvases, boards to three-dimensional pieces.
Her imagination intertwines shapes, colors and transparencies that recall industrial objects and organic forms, referring to a sensitive, fragile and delicate reality.
Everything seems to belong to a persistent rhythm made of trials and errors that impose themselves as ambiguous finds that bring new possibilities.
She conceives series of interchangeable pieces (sort of multiple compositions) in which the elements interact with each other and subsequently with the place. A multiplicity that refers to a starting nucleus: the experimentation around a material that aims to discover its own limit and question itself in every work.
