We are very happy to start the year with Éric Lacan, artist with whom we have been working since the creation of the gallery. For his new exhibition at Galerie Openspace, Éric Lacan has chosen the title of Burns, thus evoking this double sensation of heat and pain, a mixture of pleasure and suffering specific to artistic creation. Considering himself in constant learning, the artist now from Sète has always liked to give himself new technical challenges. He likes to apprehend new mediums and new ways of approaching figuration.
Unlike many artists with an intuitive practice, whether their art is figurative or abstract, Eric Lacan's artistic process is punctuated with difficulties to be resolved, resulting in a breathtaking, very precise and very meticulous final result. In addition, the artist wishes with the subtitle of his exhibition to bring a little distance in the face of the gravity of his subjects. We find this derision behind many of his works, also echoing the oxymoric nature of his work, between Eros and Thanatos.
This new exhibition shows around thirty brand new pieces staged through the three rooms of the gallery inhabited for the occasion by a nature frozen in time. We can't wait to share this new immersive experience with you!
