Chrystèle Saint-Amaux scrutinizes the world of images, her childhood memories, news and travel to collect the essentials and awaken our imagination. “I am a great lover of images, they are what inspire me. I start with a photograph, a scene seen in the street, I mix my memories and the collectibles that I keep preciously until they find their meaning in a painting or an assemblage sculpture. My work is a chosen mixture of spontaneity and construction. The artist's inspiration finds its source in his African childhood. “I lived in Cameroon until I was eleven years old. I kept from this stay, which left a deep mark on me, the taste for colors, patterns, the mixing of styles… ”A wealth of influences that the artist exploits with dexterity. The contrast between the raw materials and the feminine refinement of the plastic elements offers singular surprises. The artist imagines through his creations, atmospheres with raw and offbeat poetry, assemblages of paint, recovered materials, drawings and photos.
