A collective exhibition by the authors of the Galerie Jean-Denis Walter. Whether posed, organized or taken on the spot, the portrait always involves a more or less formal collaboration and exchange between the photographer and his subject. In the case of the posed portrait, the communication is perfectly conscious. One, the subject, gives to see of himself what he wants, even if he sometimes lets himself be directed. The other, the photographer, uses his eye, his technique and his talent to receive and transcribe what is given to him and thus express an opinion, a vision. In the case of the “reportage” portrait, the subject is not prepared, he is sometimes aware of the presence of the photographer, but does not collaborate completely, the meeting has not been organized. This is the first time that the gallery presents an exhibition dedicated to this photographic genre, the original genre. It was time.
