Part One (Enrique Torres) has a reputation for being one of the early pioneers of writing-style graffiti who created some of the most brilliant works of art on New York City subway trains. He is a veteran of the golden age of New York subway painting and considered a master of style in the graffiti world specializing in his own brand of lettering which he began to develop in 1974. From 1974 -1985 he was one of the most accomplished artists on New York's subway trains, in 1985 he took a brief hiatus from painting to return in 1990 as a leading figure in the re-emergence of Wild style pieces in murals in Harlem. His art has been featured in the classic style Wars films as well as the critically acclaimed Hip Hop book, Martha Cooper Files, and more recently the books, Burning New York, New York City Black Book Master, and Graffiti Planet. His biography, Part One - The Death Squad chronicles his art spanning over 30 years. He was most recently present in the Born in the Streets exhibition at the Fondation Cartier in Paris.
