SHADOWS & LIGHTS
For his first personal exhibition, Elips invites us to see the relationship between these two opposing but complementary entities. Just like Yin and Yang in Chinese philosophy, good and evil in the West, shadow and light are related. One cannot exist without the other. This relationship is at the heart of the artist's work from a visual point of view: it is often a game between black and white. It is these chiaroscuro techniques that he likes and that he wishes to present. Elips uses his acute mastery of various techniques such as ballpoint pen, Indian ink, pencil, acrylic paint, to bring visitors into his moving and poetic universe.
