Born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1969, Valérie Crausaz emigrated to the Cévennes a few years later. It was only natural that she enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in Nîmes in 1986 to obtain her fianl diploma (DNSEP) in Montpellier in 1991. In Nîmes, Vinvent Bioulès, Alain Clément and Claude Viallat, between others develop a taste for painting. At the school's engraving workshop, Les Presses du Jardin, guided by François Dezeuze and Emilio Serrulla, she was introduced to the different techniques of this practice.
A few years later, her taste for engraving led her to acquire an intaglio press in order to be able to practice assiduously and independently. In recent years, her practice of different engraving techniques has led him to produce artist books. In March 200, prevented from going to her studio, she moved him to her home. She then produces one gouache per day, the exterior seen from the inside, or scenes of everyday life that she wears every day on her Instagram account, a daily report of the workshop outside the walls / intro muros.
Following this period, she continued this experience which she developed in a more sophisticated way in large formats on Arches 500 gr paper. And lighter in a nomadic workshop, outdoors, on the pattern.
