Yann Rebecq, Painter
Born in 1955 in Douala (Cameroon).
Yann Rebecq's painting goes straight to the point.
Colorist, mixing shades giving real strength to his canvases, the subtlety of the assembly of the chosen colors, often bordering on the unreal, is done in balance.
His subjects are very varied, built around landscapes, seascapes, everyday scenes of family life, more intimate and poetic interiors. They are often inhabited by lights, creators of true poetry and of great suggestive power.
His childhood and youth in New Caledonia and the South Pacific probably influenced his taste for colors and strong lights. When he arrived in Toulon in France in the mid-1970s, he became a pupil of his maternal grandmother, Jeanne Dagorn, pastellist, then pupil and friend of Eugène Baboulène and Henri Pertus. He also meets Antoni Clavé.
The years in Saint Rémy de Provence made him discover Vincent van Gogh up close, far from myth and legend.
Some of his creations are in several public collections in the United States (Baltimore Museum, French Consulates in Atlanta and New York), in Switzerland (Zurich Museum), in Norway (Christiansen Museum) and in China (20 national museums) and the Bahamas (Netherlands Embassy), and its collectors are on 5 continents.
He exhibited all these years in several art galleries in France (Toulon, Mougins, St Rémy de Provence, Marseille, Uzès, Binic, Megève, Lyon, Paris), in Nouméa, in Sydney in Australia, in the USA in Atlanta, in New York, Nashville, Charlotte, Seoul and Busan in Korea, Singapore, and now Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou and Shanghai, China, where its success participates in the significant development of its international listing.
