Left Behind is part of a new series Marko Klomp started in 2019. In each of these painting, Marko Klomp paints in his signature 'soft focus' style a vast landscape with a singular animal figure. His series is a detailed study of our current zeitgeist.

Freedom and solitude. Two very topical themes for many of us. The painted landscapes of Marko Klomp (1974) seem to deal with these themes - but also others. Marko Klomp's solo exhibition will open on 2 January 2021 and will run until 28 February 2021. The exhibition will first be digitally available.
LANDSCAPES AND OUR SOCIETY
The lack of freedom, the fear of loneliness. There must be many people who have thought about that because of the current pandemic. Art, and Marko Klomp's paintings, in particular, offer the opportunity to escape for a while, but also to pause. They create a moment of calm where "lonely" may mean "alone," and alone does not have to be bad. Painted landscapes in particular work like this, they have meaning because they appeal to the identity of the viewer. But it is also the viewer who gives meaning to the landscape.
