Shaka's third exhibition at Galerie Lazarew! A figure of urban art for almost 20 years, Shaka (Marchal Mithouard) brilliantly combines the influences of the street (lettering, violence, colors) and a studio work started in parallel from its beginnings (oil painting , sculpture, bas reliefs). His inimitable style is characterized by faces and bodies fragmented, ribbed, surrounded by blacks, their nerves sharp, as if they were wearing a mask or if, on the contrary, they were emaciated. Since 2007, the volume has been invited into his work, first via bas reliefs integrated into his canvases then in munumental sculptures in wood, and now in bronze. For this exhibition, Shaka is interested in the transposition of mythologies to our contemporary time - in particular the myth of Sysiphe, while continuing his research on movement. His characters are in action or out of balance, as in his very large canvas (190 x 270 cm) Carrousel or in his Onde de Choc portrait gallery. We will also present the artist's first two bronze sculpture.
