Michel Cornu

“There is the time spent working on the work and the time of maturity. To achieve what I create today, this double temporality is necessary. »

Biography

Michel Cornu is a French artist born in September 1957 in Flavigny sur Moselle. He trained in Robert George's studio in 1984 where he also met the Japanese painter Osamu Yamasaki with whom he worked for 3 years and who gave him the impetus to move towards drawing. Later, he collaborated with the sculptors Vladimir Skoda and Dominique Labauvie. In 1989, he created his own studio and continued to deepen his artistic work on the line. In 1996, he released a first series of engravings where the line is chiseled into the plate. Painting, engraving or drawing, Michel Cornu works the line, models it and transforms it to make a precise and singular work. His works are presented in Europe in Paris, Strasbourg, Innsbruck, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe and Brussels as well as in Japan and the United States.
