Biography
Anne-Louise Cloarec is originally from Finistère and currently lives in Paris.
She was influenced by post-war abstract painting, and in particular by artists such as Pierre Soulages, Hans Hartung, Jackson Pollock and Zao Wou-Ki. She draws her inspiration mainly from the maritime landscapes of her native Brittany and in particular the waves whose shape and strength she tries to reproduce in her paintings. She has been working and experimenting since 2019 to recreate, thanks to the white material in relief and the projection of paint, sensations of speed and power that she would like to be felt by the public.
His paintings are chronologically numbered and generally consist of two sets: a background and paint stains (including Mars Black, Payne's Gray and Cobalt Blue). The white is applied and "sculpted" entirely by hand. Concerning the color painting, it is projected onto the canvas from the top of a ladder (dripping technique). For her paintings, she has chosen to use only one format, namely 100 cm x 100 cm.
She paints mainly for the pleasure of playing with the material, but also wishes to denounce and engage through her paintings, and in particular thanks to the contrast between titanium white and black / blue projected on the canvas, against the current marine pollution.
