François-Xavier de Boissoudy chooses sobriety. The simplicity. A blur that recalls in its own way the Shroud of Turin. It is no coincidence that his copper-toned paintings are reminiscent of the photographic negative. Everything here is about revelation. The face of Christ is that beyond which is imprinted in the present but which does not belong there either. Boissoudy seems to be watching for this appearance on the canvas. He is not the author of it, but merely a witness to it. A few moments ago this image did not exist and yet it was given to him. It has imposed itself on him, out of nothingness. His brush, from master, becomes slave. He sketches, he brushes, he lets the forms come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...
