White Lotus is an original graphic by the American artist Alex Katz. The White Lotus is a social satire conceived as a television series by Mike White. The first season was broadcast very successfully in the USA in July and August 2021. Alex Katz is a big fan of this TV series and was inspired by it to create the new series of original graphics. The people depicted are his neighbors in Maine.
In the sun-soaked paradise of a Hawaiian resort, “White Lotus” unfolds as a riveting exploration of human nature against the backdrop of privilege and luxury. Created by Mike White, this HBO series delves into the lives of guests and staff at an exclusive tropical resort, weaving together a tapestry of drama, humor, and social commentary.
Set within the confines of the luxurious White Lotus resort, the series peels back the layers of its characters, exposing their vulnerabilities, desires, and flaws. From the entitled vacationers seeking escape from their lives to the diligent employees navigating the whims of demanding guests, each character is a complex study in their own right.
At the heart of the narrative are the guests, whose arrival sets the stage for a collision of egos, ambitions, and insecurities. The Mossbacher family, headed by the overbearing Nicole (played by Connie Britton) and her passive-aggressive husband Mark (Steve Zahn), epitomizes privilege and entitlement. Their entitled teenage daughter Olivia (Sydney Sweeney) and socially awkward son Quinn (Fred Hechinger) add layers of tension to their family dynamics.
Opposing them is the enigmatic Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge), a grieving widow seeking solace in the wake of her husband’s death. Tanya’s eccentricities and vulnerability make her both endearing and unpredictable, as she navigates the complexities of grief and self-discovery.
Meanwhile, the resort staff, led by the conscientious manager Armond (Murray Bartlett) and the ambitious spa director Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), grapple with their own challenges while striving to maintain the illusion of paradise for their guests. Through their eyes, we witness the invisible labor that upholds the facade of luxury, as well as the power dynamics that shape their interactions with the guests.
As the series unfolds, tensions simmer beneath the surface, threatening to erupt into chaos at any moment. From forbidden romances to simmering resentments, each episode peels back another layer of the characters’ facades, revealing the raw humanity beneath.
“White Lotus” is more than just a gripping drama—it’s a searing critique of privilege, inequality, and the pursuit of happiness in an age of excess. Through its nuanced characters and razor-sharp dialogue, the series challenges viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about society and themselves.
In its exploration of power dynamics, social hierarchies, and the search for meaning in a world defined by wealth and status, “White Lotus” offers a compelling and thought-provoking journey into the heart of paradise—and the darkness that lurks beneath its surface.
Alex Katz is particularly famous for his figurative paintings: The son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, he was born in New York in 1927. As a pioneer of Pop Art, he always concentrated on the essentials and explored simplified forms and high-contrast color composition early on. His art is diverse, but always has beauty as its central theme. The artist can now look back on more than 200 solo and around 500 group exhibitions; his diverse works are part of over 100 collections worldwide. Alex Katz lives and works in New York and Maine.

Alex Katz was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1927 from Russian parents. In 1946, Katz entered The Cooper Union Art School in Manhattan, a prestigious college of art, architecture, and engineering.
Alex Katz is a figurative artist. He is known for paintings, sculptures and prints and is represented by numerous galleries internationally. His paintings are divided almost equally into the genres of portraiture and landscape.
Katz's first one-person show was held at the Roko Gallery in 1954. Katz had begun to develop greater acquaintances with the New York School and their allies in the other arts. From 1955 to 1959, usually following a day of painting, Katz made small collages of figures in landscapes from hand-colored strips of delicately cut paper. In the late 1950s, he moved towards greater realism in his paintings. He embraced monochrome backgrounds, which would become a defining characteristic of his style, anticipating Pop Art and separating him from gestural figure painters and the New Perceptual Realism. In 1965, he also embarked on a prolific career in printmaking. Katz would go on to produce many editions in lithography, etching, silkscreen, woodcut and linoleum cut.
Alex Katz's work has been the subject of more than 200 solo exhibitions and nearly 500 group exhibitions internationally since 1951. Katz has received numerous accolades throughout his career. In 2007, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy Museum, New York. In 2005, Katz was the honored artist at the Chicago Humanities Festival's Inaugural Richard Gray Annual Visual Arts Series. The same year, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Colgate University, Hamilton, New York— his second Honorary Doctorate, following one from Colby College, Maine, in 1984.
Works by Alex Katz can be found in over 100 public collections worldwide. Most notably, those in America include: Albright-Knox Museum, Buffalo; The Art Institute of Chicago; The Brooklyn Museum; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; Des Moines Art Center; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and many others.

Can I negotiate the price of an artwork?
For some artworks, you can negotiate the price. If the price of the work is negotiable, you have a “Make an offer” button under the “Buy this work” one.
To submit your offer, you must make a payment of the desired amount. Your offer will then be forwarded to the gallery, which reserves the right to accept or reject it. If your offer is accepted, it means that your order is confirmed by the gallery and they will prepare the artwork for shipment. Where can I have my order delivered?
Artsper delivers worldwide!
However, please note that once your order reaches its destination, it may be subject to VAT or other customs fees. These charges are beyond our control and you will be responsible for paying them (this is indicated at the ‘checkout’ first step).

Return and cancellation
You can return the artwork without needing to provide a reason or pay a penalty fee up to 14 days after receiving your order.
In the case that the right of withdrawal is exercised in the aforementioned time frame, the price of the artwork(s) purchased and the shipping costs will be reimbursed by us as soon as the gallery has received the artwork and notified us.
