This exhibition, the first retrospective of Fabrizio La Torre’s complete work, was made possible thanks to the help and support of HSH Prince Albert II and the Prince's Government of Monaco. It is a huge project, which spans to 800 m² and 12 separate spaces, and which could be realized in the very last moments of the artist's life, taking advantage of his indications and memories. Indeed, if he devotes all his remaining time and energy to the preparation of this event, fate wants him to die only 15 days before its inauguration.
In a dynamic and attractive scenography, visitors can travel the three regions of the world where this photographer practiced his art, in Italy, North America and Asia, where he lived for five years (1956-61).
If the neo-realistic look is understood and appreciated on his Roman and Italian shots, this retrospective leads us to understand that La Torre approached all regions of the world with the same sensitivity, the same connivance with the people photographed, with the gentleness and the kindness that makes his photos universal and meaningful for everyone.
A book-album is published on the occasion, a head print of which is reserved for the authorities of the Principality. Even if he had some difficulty moving around, the artist decided to enrich this book with biographical elements which he typed himself on his old Remington typewriter.
