DUO SHOW // NIKITA & Mr. CENZ // FACE TO FACE
CORPS ET AME GALLERY presents FACE TO FACE, a DUO Show dedicated to the production of two Street Artists: NIKITA from Montpellier & Mr. CENZ a British artist based in London.
FACE TO FACE is a street-art exhibition gathering several portraits of women associated with games of colours, materials and shapes... An exhibition halfway between urban art and classical painting. NIKITA and Mr. CENZ are particularly interested in women's portraits which constitute almost all of their production, portraits which reveal strong women and at the same time moving by the sincerity and the range of their glances.
Through this exhibition, you will discover the futuristic style of Mr. CENZ's works associated with the more classical touch of NIKITA's paintings. Attached to the Hip Hop culture, these artists will realize their first works in the urban space which will become a place of learning as well as their ground of experimentation. It is in the street in a self-taught way that they will learn to handle the aerosol can, at first in illegality, they knew how to impose themselves in the world of the contemporary art and count today numerous orders of frescos which they were able to carry out a little everywhere in Europe.
Mr. CENZ is a London artist who has been practicing graffiti since 1984. When he discovered Hip Hop culture and graffiti, he was particularly influenced by the Hold School style and lettering. Mr. CENZ started working in the streets of London. After some problems with the law, he decided to find legal ways to express his talent. Today he is one of the most recognized artists and has produced numerous murals in several cities around the world. His aesthetic can be described as Surrealist or Funk, his work has sometimes been described as "A SURREALIST GRAFFITI" or "A PAINTING FOR THE SOUL". Her work has been described as a "SURREALIST GRAFFITI" or "A PAINTING FOR THE SOUL", blending fluid forms that evoke an abstract genre.
NIKITA is an artist from Montpellier. Self-taught, she learns the technique of graffiti by rubbing shoulders with graffiti artists and productions made in the street. Her work is influenced by the Hip Hop spirit, which she believes is inseparable from the Street Art movement. Initiated to graffiti in the late 90's by Sweo, she started to train with spray cans on the Verdanson quays and in the streets of Montpellier. NIKITA is also interested in abandoned places in the "Urbex" style, which will make the uniqueness of her work. Indeed, during her excursions Nikita collects pieces of 19th and 20th century tapestries from the places she visits and gives them a second life in her paintings.
