Biography
Karen Gulden is a sculptor born in 1939 in Missouri, United States. She studies in the Universities of Colorado, (USA) Munich (Germany) and Paris VII (France). After her departure from the United States she lives twelve years in Germany and finally settles down in France in 1972. Karen Gulden says she discovered sculpture was her vocation in 1977 in Aix En Provence.
In 1987, Lise Cormery organizes the selection of a sculpture contest called "THOT Trophy 1987" for "La Revue du Praticien", a Medical Magazine. Seventy sculptors present their sculptures, a free interpretation of Thot, God of Medecine. Karen Gulden wins the contest with her abstract version in terra cotta. Art Critics Pierre Brisset and Gilda Thomas from "L'œil" Magazine, Sandra Knock-Silve, Françoise Espagnet and Claude Dorval write texts on Karen Gulde sculptures for her catalog published for her Solo Show in Lise Cormery, Gallery, 6, rue de Lanneau, Paris and the Trophée Thot event in Pré Catelan, Paris.
