From May 23 to June 29, 2023, Fisheye Gallery celebrates the colorful universe of Chiron Duong with Symbols: a crossroad of colours. At the heart of the exhibition – which is associated with the Picto Prize for Young Fashion Photography, which decorated the artist in 2020 – are intertwined two series in which the movements come in a profusion of dazzling shades. Boundaries (2021), first of all, endeavors to transcribe the passage from adolescence to adulthood. During this period of familiar doubts, our perception of the world evolves and raises existential questions. At the bend of this crossroads of disparate emotions, symbols have their place. Their universal scope crystallizes the ability of man to connect with others in order to create a collective consciousness, nourished by common values and customs. The Vietnamese photographer takes an interest in this theme in Portraits of Áo Dài (2021-2022), a charming visual choreography that gives pride of place to the traditional dress of women in his country. Here, the vaporous fabrics let glimpse snippets of the past, updated by the author's vibrant compositions.
