British minimalist landscape painter Victoria Curling Eriksson will be introducing a new series of 19 small and large scale paintings and studies in her solo exhibition at the Nordic Art Agency this Autumn.
'Visual Atmosphere' is an eloquent series of poetic monochrome landscapes, painted in oil on canvas, inspired by nature and the formation of sky, coast and land.
Originally from Bath in England, Victoria currently has a studio in Viken in Sweden and influences from both the British countryside and Southern Swedish sea and landscapes are interpreted through her oil painting.
"I describe my painting technique as intuitive. I'm resist working from photographs or sketches. I don't wish to create something that is a reflection of an image or reconstruction of a place. My desire is to create something that could be anywhere and resonates with everyone." - Victoria Curling Eriksson
Light, shadow and an acute capacity to recall atmospheric memories, without the use of a photographic images, gives a purity and emotional power to Victoria Curling Eriksson work.
The visual interpretations of her surroundings establishes a deep emotional recall and understanding of weather changes, light and cloud formations through her minimal compositions and gestural brushwork.
